Who is Decjuba?
Decjuba is a leading fashion retailer known for offering effortless fashion across Australia and New Zealand. Since its founding in 2008, Decjuba has expanded to 150 stores and has a strong ecommerce presence, shipping internationally. The brand is committed to making fashion accessible and easy for its customers, both in-store and online.
The challenge
As Decjuba grew, it faced challenges common to many fast-growing retailers. Some of the primary hurdles included:
- Centralised fulfilment limitations: Fulfilling all online orders from a single warehouse in Victoria caused delays for customers located farther away, impacting shipping times and overall customer satisfaction.
- Inventory management pressures: Moving seasonal stock quickly was essential to make room for new collections, often resulting in heavy discounting when unsold items lingered in the central warehouse.
- Customer experience expectations: With consumers becoming increasingly sensitive to delivery times and costs, Decjuba needed to offer flexible delivery options while keeping operational costs manageable.
"For our online customers and also people who do an endless aisle order in-store, it was all being dispatched from our Victorian warehouse, which does have some geographical challenges."
- Steven Crisapulli, GM of Technology
The solution
To overcome these challenges, Decjuba partnered with Shippit, Australia's leading commerce delivery platform.
With Shippit's help, Decjuba was able to:
- Activate ship-from-store: Shippit allowed Decjuba to unlock inventory across its stores, enabling faster fulfilment and delivery to customers, regardless of their location. This significantly reduced the time customers had to wait for their orders and maximised inventory usage across stores.
- Integrated systems for efficiency: Through Shippit's integration with Decjuba's ERP (Apparel21) and Point of Sale (POS) systems, the brand’s in-store staff could quickly generate shipping labels, making the process seamless.
- Enhanced customer choice: Using Shippit’s rules engine, Decjuba could offer flexible delivery options, allowing customers to prioritise speed or cost at checkout, improving conversion rates and customer satisfaction.
- Cost-effective fulfilment: Shippit’s platform provided Decjuba with access to multiple carrier options, enabling them to select the most cost-efficient delivery method for each order.
"We saw an instant reward from implementing ship-from-store with Shippit – it unlocked inventory and sped up delivery, clearing stock quickly"
- Steven Crisapulli, GM of Technology
The results
Decjuba's partnership with Shippit delivered significant benefits:
- Faster, more efficient delivery: By enabling ship-from-store, Decjuba could fulfil orders faster, often clearing stock that would otherwise have been heavily discounted. For example, puffer vests were shipped from a Queensland store to a customer in Tasmania, clearing stock that might have gone unsold due to seasonality.
- Increased operational efficiency: The integration of Shippit with Decjuba's systems made it easy to scale ship-from-store across 80 stores in Australia, with plans to activate 12 more in New Zealand.
- Improved customer experience: Decjuba offered more delivery options and transparency, which helped boost cart conversions and drive sales, especially as delivery quality became increasingly important to consumer loyalty.
"Shippit has become an integral part of our omni-delivery strategy, helping us deliver products quickly and efficiently to our customers," Crisapulli said.
- Steven Crisapulli, GM of Technology
Looking ahead
As Decjuba continues to expand its retail footprint, the company remains committed to ensuring that its delivery operations are as effortless as its fashion. With plans to roll out ship-from-store across more locations and further optimise delivery options, Decjuba aims to maintain its focus on customer satisfaction while growing its brand internationally.
